Chihuahuas split opening series with Aces

The Reno Aces scored in five different innings Sunday, beating the El Paso Chihuahuas, 9-1. After an RBI double in the first inning by Mike Jacobs gave Reno its first run, the Aces scored three times in the second when Ender Inciarte rounded the bases on a two-run triple and a Chihuahuas throwing error. The Aces added two runs each in the fourth and fifth, as well as a single run in the sixth, and the Chihuahuas never recovered.

El Paso’s lone run came in the eighth, when Kyle Blanks hit a long home run to left field that cleared the stadium’s back wall and left Aces Ballpark. Chihuahuas’ reliever Tony Sipp pitched two scoreless innings and has now struck out seven hitters in only 3.2 innings this season. El Paso’s Reymond Fuentes and Alex Castellanos both had two hits in the loss.
