Trump signs executive order splitting MMR vaccine into 3 shots

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- President Donald Trump signed an executive order that says the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine should be split into three separate shots.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said children need two doses of the MMR vaccine. Usually, the first dose is taken at 12-15 months and the second is taken between ages 4-6.

Additionally, the CDC noted that a third MMR dose might be recommended for those in mumps outbreak situations.
