Day 2: First Day of Workout

5:00am (yes I wrote 5) Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

I wake up to the sound of my alarm and jump out of bed.

It was cold and dark but I still got up.

I get ready and head down the stairs to make me some oatmeal and coffee.

My dogs look at me like I am crazy and go back to snoring, not even a bark – worthless dogs!

I consume the small amount of oatmeal I made and grabbed my coffee cup.

It was only 5:20am (Yes I said 5)

By now the fact that I was outside of my house earlier than at any time in the past three years hit me and realized I was doing it!

A sudden rush of adrenaline hit me or maybe it was the large gulp I took of the coffee earlier, either way I jumped in my cold truck and headed to my first workout.

The streets are alone and only a few cars are out.

But as I approach my destination I see more activity.

I park and I take in the view of the lit up Planet Fitness like a UFO in the night as I made my way into my first workout.

I remembered what the Planet Fitness Trainer, Nancy Diaz, had said the day before so I just started and put my headphones on and did the following:

30 minutes of Arc Trainer

15 minutes on 5/10 5 minutes on 10/15 5 minutes on 15/20 5 minutes on 10/15

Obliques (Death for us of the pudgy kind)

3 sets of 15 left obliques 3 sets of 15 right obliques 3 sets of 15 forward 3 sets of 15 right twist 3 sets of 15 left twist

20 minutes of Cool Down

20 Minutes on the Elliptical Trainer

So I powered through my assigned workout and realized it wasn’t even 7am (yes I said 7)

I actually prefer to work out in the morning because of this cold hard fact: I can be done before 9am!

I know that tomorrow I will be in pain because of those oblique’s but most likely it’s because I haven’t worked out in years.
