SISD to present Texas Academic Performance Report at public hearing Jan. 20

The Socorro Independent School District will conduct a public hearing for the 2013-14 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) Tuesday, as part of the regularly scheduled meeting of the SISD Board of Trustees.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the SISD District Service Center, 12440 Rojas Dr.

Texas Education Code Chapter 39 requires each school district’s board of trustees to publish an annual performance report that includes the TAPR report, campus performance objectives, a report of violent or criminal incidents, and information received under the Texas Education Code 51.403(e) from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The Texas Academic Performance Report shows SISD and all of its rated schools “Met Standard” in all indices measured under the new state accountability system. Sixty-nine percent of campuses received Academic Achievement Distinctions.

The indices reflect student performance on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exams, graduation rates and more.
