Storms shift west Monday, heat returns midweek

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Monday's storms will move west, with heavy rain possible in the Gila Region and a few brief storms in the Sacramento Mountains.

Around Las Cruces and El Paso, storm chances drop to just 10 percent as the air becomes more stable.

By midweek, dry and hot weather returns to the lowlands, with highs climbing back above 100 degrees in El Paso.

Thursday afternoon brings back storm chances, mostly west of the Rio Grande, as northeast winds develop overhead and the subtropical ridge stays put over the Four Corners.

The Gila and southwest New Mexico should stay active, but drier air may mean El Paso only sees gusty winds.

Highs for today will be 95 F El Paso, 94 F Las Cruces.
