NMSU Alumni Pond reopens, new athletics director, more updates

New Mexico State University kicks off the fall semester with Good Morning El Paso on Wednesday.

Jose Loera, executive director of facilities and services, gives an update on the NMSU Alumni Pond.

It has reopened to the campus community after the installation of a new clay liner, refilling the pond and the removal of construction fencing.

The university says this reopening marks the completion of the primary phase of restoration and the beginning of the pond's natural ecological recovery. 

Nadya Neparko was in the first cohort of the 1888 leadership program, which creates opportunities and networks for freshmen. 

This year, she will mentor new students entering the program.

NMSU's Health, Education and Social Transformation College Dean Rick Marlatt gives an update on the O'Donnell Hall construction.

The new athletic director, Joe Fields has been at NMSU for one year now.

He will discuss any fundraising successes over the past year and his plans for the fall football season.
