Pumpkins and pachyderms: Guess the weight of a giant pumpkin, meet Savannah and Juno

Elephants like pumpkins, too.

And a pair of children will get a chance to feed pumpkins to a pair of elephants later this month.

The Mesilla Valley Maze at the Family Fun Farm and the El Paso Zoo teamed up to give visitors at the maze a chance to guess the weight of the giant pumpkin. The winners will get to feed the El Paso Zoo’s two elephants, Savannah and Juno, during the zoo’s “Boo at the Zoo” event Oct. 25-26.

“The winners get to go into the elephant exhibit and write a personal message on the pumpkins,” Brooke Bartelt of the El Paso Zoo said. “Then, Savannah and Juno will come out and enjoy their special Halloween treat!”

The Mesilla Valley Maze at the Family Fun Farm is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends through Oct. 26. Admission is $10.95, and 8.95 for children.
