Fire engulfs non-permitted homes; Juárez officials

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- According to Juárez officials, first responders were called out for a fire that had started near Puerto Dunkirque and Puerto Lisboa streets in the Tierra Nueva neighborhood Saturday around 7 p.m.

Officials say that the fire destroyed wooden and cardboard houses that individuals had built without permission on property that wasn't theirs.

No injuries were reported and Juárez officials say the families that were living in the area had lost some belongings in the fire and were relocated.

Officials say that the area has had several fire within the past two years but did not provide an exact number.
