Meet Gracey’s rescue animals this Saturday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Gracey’s Rescue Ranch is inviting the community to meet its animals while helping support their care during a fundraiser and open house Saturday, Aug. 29.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 6400 Charolais Drive in El Paso.

According to the ranch, it has opened its doors to more than 250 animals in need over the past two years, including more than 100 animals rescued in the last month. More than 140 animals currently live at the ranch.

Mike Gracey, founder of Gracey’s Rescue Ranch, told ABC-7 the nonprofit works with El Paso Animal Services to help animals other than dogs and cats, including horses, donkeys, goats and pigs.

Gracey said caring for more than 80 horses alone requires between 1,500 and 2,000 pounds of hay each day, along with thousands of gallons of water. The ranch is currently seeking help with medical care and supplies, including shelter, food and water bins, gates and panels.

Saturday’s open house will give families an opportunity to meet some of the animals and learn their stories. The event will also feature local vendors, food trucks, face painting, live music, a water slide and bounce houses.

Organizers say donations and proceeds from the event will go directly to Gracey’s Rescue Ranch and the animals in its care.
