Ethan Salas could be next Padres prospect called up

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Ethan Salas may be getting closer to making his Major League Baseball debut.

The San Diego Padres promoted Salas, their former No. 1 overall prospect, to the El Paso Chihuahuas in late July. Since then, the 20-year-old catcher has continued to showcase his talent and prove why he is one of the organization's promising young players.

With September approaching, MLB.com reported that the Padres are considering a potential call-up for Salas.

“I just try to enjoy every single day I have here. The development that I need to take care of, really just trying to just enjoy everyday life down here right now and get better every single day. So when the time comes, I'll be ready.”

Salas also talked about his experience playing in El Paso.

“The ballpark is definitely the nicest ballpark I've been to in my playing career. And the fans, it's been sick. It's been pretty cool.”

For now, Ethan Salas said his focus is on continuing to develop and being ready when his opportunity comes. With September just around the corner, that opportunity in San Diego could be coming sooner than he thinks.
