City of El Paso invites the community to the “Be Ready Bash”

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- For National Preparedness Month, the Department of Public Health is inviting the community to the “Be Ready Bash,” a free, family-friendly event featuring live demonstrations, interactive booths, and practical tips to help residents prepare for emergencies.

Those interested can attend the event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at Eastwood Park, 10259 Album Ave.

Organizers say that attendees will also find resources on health, wellness, and pet preparedness.

The City of El Paso says the first 200 households in attendance will receive a free emergency kit, and additional giveaways will be raffled throughout the morning. 

“National Preparedness Month is an opportunity to remind our community that being prepared begins with taking simple steps before an emergency occurs,” said Public Health Interim Director Sara Cera. “By learning how to protect our loved ones, including our pets, and knowing where to turn for help and resources, we can be better prepared to respond and recover when emergencies happen.”

In addition, the City of El Paso Animal Services will offer free microchips for the first 50 pets in attendance; the Department of Public Health and the El Paso Fire Department will also provide FREE flu vaccines to individuals 6 months of age and older.
