UTEP women’s golf in fifth, play suspended at Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - UTEP women’s golf is 9-over par and stands fifth among 13 teams after second-round play was suspended due to lightning at New Mexico’s Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the UNM Championship Course (par 72 | 6,354 yards) on Monday evening.

The Miners are through 14-16 holes in the second round. The completion of round two tees off at 7:30 a.m. MT Tuesday, with play moving directly into the third and final round.

UNLV and Pepperdine are tied for first at 7-under par through 14-16 holes of the second round, while host New Mexico sits in third at 6-under. UTEP (+9) is one stroke behind Montana State (+8), which is through 14-15 holes.

Luciana Origel leads the Miners and is tied for fifth at 2-under par, while Taline Kyoumjian is tied for 15th at 1-over. Camila De Echavarri is tied for 18th at 2-over, Blanca Yrizar is tied for 58th at 10-over and Atikan Cherdchoo is tied for 66th at 12-over. Essi Ekholm, competing as an individual, is also tied for 66th at 12-over.

Pepperdine’s Kylee Choi leads the field at 8-under par through 15 holes of the second round. New Mexico’s Ava Cepeda is in second at 6-under through 14 holes, while UNLV’s Kuree Little and Pin Hsi Chen are tied for third at 3-under through 15 holes.
