ABC-7 First Alert: Looking good this weekend in the Borderland, tropical remnants will bring heavy rain and flood potential this coming week

Our ABC-7 First Alert continues in preparation for tropical remnants that are expected to bring heavy rain and flood potential to the Borderland. Today and Sunday afternoons will be nice. There will be slight chances for isolated evening showers and thunderstorms Sunday evening mostly to the west.

The Rain chances will increase after tomorrow evening as the Borderland will see a wave of tropical remnants from Hurricane Polo. These storms may bring heavy rain and potential flooding to the area. We will continue to keep you updated!

Hurricane Polo is in the Eastern Pacific Ocean moving northwest at approximately 10 mph and is expected to turn to the north on Sunday and then northeast by Monday where it is expected to strengthen again. Maximum sustained winds are at 145 mph with higher gusts (Category 4).

The weather setup will be interesting for the next several days in the Borderland! A High-Pressure System will continue to build over area for the next day and a half, this will contribute to the nice and clear conditions after a few days of heavy rain and flooding. This system will slide to the east and will swing the tropical remnants of Hurricane Polo into the Borderland Monday-Wednesday. Polo will be a Tropical Depression by the time it reaches the area. By Thursday, the remnants will move to the northeast and rain chances will drop off going into next weekend!
