Flood Watch continues as heavy rain returns

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Polo is expected to bring another round of widespread showers and thunderstorms to New Mexico and West Texas from this afternoon through Wednesday morning.

Storms could produce heavy rain, gusty winds and flash flooding, especially in areas that have already received significant rainfall in recent weeks.

Forecasters expect 1 to 2 inches of rain across much of southwest New Mexico, with some locations receiving 3 to 4 inches.

A Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday morning.

Drier weather is expected Thursday through the weekend as tropical moisture moves east of the region. Temperatures are also expected to remain on the cooler side into next weekend.
