EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Marathon Petroleum's El Paso refinery invited the public to learn about the Aug. 4 incident and investigation results. The El Paso Hispanic Chamber said the meeting will take place Tuesday.

Reports showed that the refinery released more than 15 tons of pollutants on Aug. 4. Some residents living near the refinery said the gases irritated their eyes and caused nausea. Several reported smelling a strong odor during the incident.

According to the chamber, the meeting will go over details of air monitoring results, operational changes, improvements to community notification and details of the release.

Amistad will also provide help attending the meeting to those who need it. You can request a ride by calling (915) 532-3415 and ask for transportation for the Marathon event.

The meeting starts runs from 6-7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Riverside High School (301 Midway Dr.).
