Locomotive FC’s 9 match unbeaten streak ends with 3-1 Loss at Lexington SC

EL PASO, Texas -  October 3, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC fell 3-1 at Lexington, snapping a nine-match unbeaten streak. It was El Paso’s first loss since a 2-0 defeat at Orange County SC on August 1.

Los Locos played with 10 men after Palermo Ortiz was sent off in the 24th minute. Lexington took the lead through Xavier Zengue in the 32nd minute, but Amando Moreno equalized five minutes later, finishing from outside the box off an assist from Roberto Avila. Moreno’s seventh goal of the season sent El Paso into halftime tied 1-1.

Alex Méndez nearly put El Paso ahead in the 50th minute with a long-range free kick that struck the crossbar. Lexington regained the lead through Phillip Goodrum in the 62nd minute before Braudílio Rodrigues added a third four minutes later to secure the result.

Locomotive return home Saturday, October 10 to take on Orange County SC at Southwest University Park. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Tickets are available at eplocomotivefc.com.

  • Palermo Ortiz’s red card in the 24th minute marked his second of the season and El Paso Locomotive FC’s ninth in 2026. Ortiz’s first came at Oakland Roots SC on May 9. It was Los Locos’ first red card since Rick Ruiz was sent off at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on June 6.
  • Amando Moreno’s equalizer in the 37th minute marked his seventh goal of the season and his 23rd with El Paso Locomotive FC. It was his first goal since July 25 against Sporting Jax.
  • Locomotive’s nine-match unbeaten streak ended with the 3-1 loss at Lexington. It marked El Paso’s first defeat since falling 2-0 at Orange County SC on August 1. Locomotive already clinched a playoff berth and are playing for home-field advantage.
