Larry Marker, candidate for New Mexico Senator

Name: Larry "Lead" Marker
Age: Born in 1963
Party: Republican
Relevant Experience
I've spent my life working in the industries that power New Mexico: oil and gas, farming, ranching, and construction. I know what it takes to meet a payroll, finish a job, and answer to the people counting on you. I've also studied how the law and government are supposed to work, so I can fight for New Mexicans from day one. The Senate has enough career politicians. It needs someone who has built something.
Personal
I was born in Hobbs and raised in Roswell. I have spent my career in the industries that built this state: oil and gas, farming, ranching, and construction.
Along the way, I saw how decisions made in Santa Fe and Washington land on real families and real communities, often badly. So I did what New Mexicans do: I learned it myself. How the law works. How government is supposed to work. I decided to make it my mission to advocate for everyday New Mexicans.
I'm running for the U.S. Senate because New Mexico deserves a senator who shows up, gets results, and answers to the people who sent him.
If you are elected, what are your priorities for New Mexico?
First, public safety: securing the border, stopping the fentanyl flowing into our communities, and backing the law enforcement officers who protect us. Second, the cost of living: lower energy prices, lower grocery bills, and more housing New Mexico families can actually afford. Third, accountability: making sure federal money meant for New Mexicans, from fire recovery funds to opioid settlements, reaches the people it was meant for. New Mexico has been last on too many lists for too long. That changes when we stop accepting it.
What is your position on data centers?
I welcome the investment and the jobs data centers can bring to New Mexico, but on the right terms. They must pay their own way for the power and water they use, so families and small businesses never see their utility bills rise to subsidize them. Our water is too precious to give away. Tax incentives should be public, tied to real local jobs, and negotiated in the open, not behind closed doors. And we should meet their energy demand by producing more of our own, not by importing it. Finally no data center project should get anywhere near approval without complete transparency and community involvement in the decision making process.
What are your plans to ensure transparency and make sure you are accessible to constituents?
I'll hold regular town halls in every region of the state, not just Albuquerque and Santa Fe, including the rural communities Washington forgets. I'll keep staffed offices across New Mexico
and answer constituent mail promptly. I'll publish my schedule, disclose every meeting with lobbyists, and support banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks. If you have a question for your senator, you should be able to ask it to his face.
What makes you the best candidate?
I'm not a career politician. I've spent my life building things in New Mexico, and I'll bring that same work ethic to the Senate. My opponent has been in Washington for years, and New Mexico is still near the bottom in crime, education, and economic opportunity. I'll measure my success by results: safer streets, lower costs, and a government that works for the people paying for it. New Mexico raised me. Now I want to fight for it.
