ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: West El Paso flooding from Saturday’s storms as threat shifts further East

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Heavy rain from Saturday's storms caused flash flooding in West El Paso and nearby areas. As the Borderland starts Sunday, the main threat for thunderstorms is shifting farther east, but a stray storm remains possible around El Paso and Doña Ana County.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning Saturday evening for parts of West El Paso and nearby communities. A Flood Watch remained in effect through 6 a.m. Sunday for western and eastern parts of El Paso County and nearby areas. Residents should remain cautious around flooded streets, low-water crossings and areas with poor drainage.

Sunday's storm chances tracking mainly in Hudspeth and Otero Counties. Temperatures tracking to be a few degrees below average, and another round of storms is possible Monday, especially in those eastern counties.

Drier air moves into the region Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a break from rain chances. Lowland temperatures will generally reach the lower to mid-70s, near typical late-October levels.

However, the break may not last long as rain chances return Thursday and increase by Friday as another weather system approaches. Above-average moisture could bring heavy rain and localized flooding, so residents should continue to monitor the forecast.
