Heavy rainfall results in hazardous roads in Far East El Paso

The rainfall overnight into Monday turned roadways into hazardous waterways on Montana Avenue.

Severe flooding and deep water ponding was reported along from Desert Storm Road to Hueco Tanks Road.

Dark roads created poor visibility, leading to drivers not being able to brake in time before reaching the flowing water.

Drivers were seen speeding through water with debris, then stalling.

TxDOT arrived around 7 a.m. to work on clearing debris, which included rocks, car parts and branches.

As of 10:50 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff's Office says it's been cleared for the most part but TxDOT is still working on it.
