ABC-7 Storm Track Weather – Quiet Weather Continues Across the Borderland Before Rain Chances Return This Weekend

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — The Borderland is expected to remain mostly quiet and dry through the remainder of the workweek, with cooler temperatures settling in before rain chances return heading into the weekend.

A weak disturbance moving across northern and eastern New Mexico will bring a slight cooldown Thursday and Friday. Afternoon temperatures are expected to run about 3 to 6 degrees below seasonal averages, making for a cooler-than-normal end to the workweek.

Overnight temperatures will also dip, with some of the colder lowland desert locations potentially falling into the upper 30s Thursday night. Despite the chilly conditions, no new freeze areas are expected.

Looking ahead to Friday night and Saturday, another system combined with a weak southeasterly push or backdoor cold front could bring increasing chances for light rain showers across the region. The added instability could support a few isolated thunderstorms.

The higher elevations and lowland areas east of El Paso currently appear to have the best chances of receiving measurable rainfall. While widespread heavy rain is not anticipated, some locations could pick up beneficial precipitation.

For now, expect a quiet and cooler end to the workweek before rain chances gradually increase Friday night into Saturday. Stay with ABC-7 StormTrack Weather for updates as the weekend forecast becomes clearer.
