Color Run Takes Over Ascarate Park

“The Happiest 5k on the planet” came back to El Paso Saturday.

The Color Run, the original color splash race, was held at Ascarate Park. Races started at 9:00 a.m..

The for-profit company, which has donated more than $3 million to charity since its start in 2012, partnered up with Team Red, White, & Blue; Stand Up To Cancer; and the American Cancer Society for the El Paso event.

Their aim is to increase awareness for important causes and get people active.

The event was part of the Kaleidoscope Tour, an addition to the races which brings human-size kaleidoscope attractions for the runners to enjoy.

The 5k course went around Ascarate Lake and runners were splashed from head to toe with different colors as they made their way through the course.
