Dona Ana County: State of the County Address

Dona Ana County manager Julia Brown and chairman Billy Garrett will deliver the state of the county address Monday.

Both plan to address challenges in the coming year.

Just last week, Julia Brown, spoke to county commissioners about raising the sales tax at its maximum level because of what she calls a crisis.

A crisis so bad, the Dona Ana county Juvenile detention center was close to shutting down on Friday.

Though it is unclear what items will be up for discussion during the address, Brown tells ABC-7, chairman Billy Garrett will discuss policy initiatives.

Brown will discuss departmental accomplishments and policy issues that commissioners face in the fiscal year.

We will be streaming the state of the county address live online.

The meeting is set to begin at 12:15 p.m. so we will also be giving you live updates this afternoon on ABC-7 at noon.
