residents in tornillo are eagerly waiting for their faucets to come back on again. crews have been working all night long to restore water service! after more than two decades since his death… a civil rights icon if finally given military honors at his gravesite. stage falls, screaming a stage collapses at the end of a high school musical, injuring nearly two dozen students. one was listed as “critical.” we have an updat on that student’s condition, it’s a wet morning in the borderland. but will the rain continue… or move on out? a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. a live look at stormtrack doppler radar is showing… currently around our region… here’s your day planner for today… expect skies, for your drive home around 5 pm. we’ll county commissioner vince perez — who represents tornillo — says the new water pump was finally installed and the water should be back now. crews worked through the night to get the water tanks filled back up. while this is certainly good news… authorities with the tornillo water improvement district are asking you to boil the water until further notice. we have an update on wednesdays tanker crash near the guadalupe mountains national park. the el paso truck driver who crashed the gasoline tanker has died. last night we spoke with the sister of alberto arzate junior who confirmed the news that he had died. ‘ she also told us arzate was a newlywed .. he had just gotten married in february. investigators say he was driving the tanker too fast and misjudged a turn … … near the guadalupe mountains national park. arzate was taken to a lubbock hospital with burns on 90 percent of his body. he was 33-years-old. we also know the name of the driver killed in a crash yesterday in central el paso. this is the one that happened on gateway south just past fred wilson. police say 18-year- old jacqueline galindo was driving south on u-s 54 when she lost control and slammed her car into a light pole. she was not wearing her seatbelt. galindo was the only one in the car and died at the scene. investigators are looking into whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. five teenagers are in the hospital this morning after the car they were riding in went off an embankment in west el paso. it happened at around 8 o’clock last night at castellano and everest. all we’re being told is that the five were taken to a hospital. one of them is in critical condition. police say the child who fell in a pool wednesday night — is still in the hospital. it happened on the 10-thousand-400 block of byway. police are not releasing any further details at this time — only telling us the one-year-old remains in critical condition. we’re also trying to figure out if the pool had a fence around it. we’ll update you as soon as we get any new information. nearly two dozen high school students get hurt as a stage collapses at the end of a high school musical. andrew spencer reports the horrible accident was caught on camera. for many of the parents and the classmates attending a high school musical in indiana, it was a terrifying experience. “Oh, my god!” “Move! Move “It was the finale. Everybody was singing. It was the last song, and then you just hear this huge bang and then all the students disappear…” “It just collapsed underneath There was splintered wood everywhere.” “There were mothers crying, dad like standing up like running up to the stage, making sure their kid was okay. It was… Man…” the performance at indiana’s westfield high school involved about 75 students. as a group of them danced at the end of the show, part of the stage gave way, injuring nearly two dozen of them. “It was over the pit, so it was all empty under there. There’s about an eight-foot drop.” “i saw my friend Omar up there. He was right in front, and i just saw him go down. The look on his face was just sheer terror.” first responders took one of the students to the hospital in critical condition, but police say that student is going to be fine. “We’ll be investigating right away to look at the cause of what happened here; certainly take every precaution to see that it doesn’t happen again.” school officials planned to continue holding class today, saying guidance counselors would be on hand to help any of the students that needed it. i’m andrew spencer, reporting we are getting closer to elction day here in the sun city. voters could decide on what firefighters and the city haven’t been able to do– come to an agreement on pay and benefits for the el paso firedepartment.
