Las Cruces man charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery against girlfriend

A Las Cruces man has been charged with two felonies after he allegedly beat up his girlfriend Sunday evening.

David Aceves, 29, is charged with one count each of kidnapping and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. Aceves was also charged with a misdemeanor count of battery.

Las Cruces Police were sent to a domestic incident report at around 11 p.m. Feb. 8 at 612 S. Espina St.

Officers heard yelling and someone screaming inside the apartment when they arrived at the scene.

Soon after, a 27-year-old woman exited the apartment and spoke with officers.

Police say the woman had noticeable bruising on her neck and face, and the woman told officers that Aceves had punched her several times.

Aceves was taken into custody a short while later.

Police say that the couple had returned home from a barbeque and the 27-year-old woman began watching television when a short while later, Aceves became upset with the woman and allegedly began punching her.

Aceves is also accused by police of dragging the woman into a bathroom, kicking her and holding her in such a position that she temporary lost consciousness.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Aceves was also found to be in violation of his parole. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.
