1 person killed in rollover that shut down portion of Loop 375 early Wednesday

Update: El Paso Police say a wrong-way driver caused a deadly crash on Loop 375 between Spur 601 and Montana early Wednesday.

Investigators say a woman driving a Jeep was northbound in the southbound lanes when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle, hit the center median and the Jeep rolled over.

The driver and another woman in side the vehicle were thrown from the vehicle. One of them died and the other is in the hospital. Police have not released their names.

Police say neither of them were wearing seatbelts.

Original story: One person is dead after a deadly crash that shut down Loop 375 between Montana and Spur 601 early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. north of Montana. In addition to the one person who was killed, another person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Eastbound traffic coming is being diverted onto Spur 601. Westbound traffic and commuters heading to Northeast El Paso are being diverted onto Montana Ave.
