Attend free weather spotter training May 16 in El Paso
The National Weather Service and ABC-7 are teaming up to offer weather spotter training.
The free, basic session will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 16 at the Tech H2O Center, 10751 Montana, El Paso, Texas.
The primary mission of the National Weather Service is to save lives and property through timely warnings and forecasts. Yes, the NWS depends on Doppler radar, state-of-the-art satellite imagery and ever-improving supercomputers, but many small scale features cannot be detected by these.
That’s why volunteer weather spotters will always be “the eyes and ears” of the NWS in reference to its warning program.
An effective SkywarnWeather Spotter program is essential for the NWS to fulfill its mission of protecting life and property and enhancing our nation’s economy.
BASIC COURSE:
Up to threehours in length, free of charge
