Litter and graffiti deep in the Franklin Mountains

pieces of trash end up on texas roads each year. but not all litter is easy to pick up. abc-7 reporter julio-cesar chavez tonight… … with more on just how bad the problem is up in the franklin mountains: hiking these nature lovers don’t want your early morning hike to end up hurting our backyard mountains it’s the biggest urban park in the us, we should take care of it. the biggest threat they say the mountains face? there’s lots of litter trash from up to hundreds of visitors a day people should always plan on leaving the parks and trails as they find them, really not as they find them because there is a lot of litter up there. everything packed in should be packed out, including bio trash like apple cores, strawberry stems. and orange peels. any trash, anything, take it back with you. litter isn’t the only problem. graffiti is bad it’s very bad spray paint covers many mountain surfaces if this graffiti continues the state will have to do something something el pasoans have already seen. we don’t want this park to ever close like hueco tanks. every visitor has a part in protecting the franklin mountains. whenever you go, make sure to pick up all the trash you can, even if it’s not yours. graffiti will do nothing but ruin the view. hiking julio-cesar chavez, abc-7 if you go hiking up in the franklins… clean up after yourselves. you’ll find trash cans at the beginning of every trail in the state park let’s take you back outside tonight …
