Fireworks in Chaparral

Today marks the 239th year of United States independence and many of people are celebrating with family grilling and lighting fireworks. With a firework ban in El Paso many people are headed to New Mexico where some counties are allowing the displays. In Otero, vendors opened their doors at 9 a.m. today. Some vendors said they have seen hundreds of people from El Paso come through the doors looking for the aerial fireworks that many enjoy watching. With the ongoing fireworks ban in El Paso year after year, vendors are seeing increasingly more sales every Fourth of July – so much so that some shelves have run empty in as few as five days after stocking them.
