Woman claims wandering German Shepherd on highway is family pet

A wandering German Shepherd caught the attention of the Texas Department of Transportation’s traffic cameras Monday morning on Loop 375.

The dog was seen walking on the eastbound lanes of the highway between Fonseca and Paisano during the morning rush hour.

TX-DoT cameras followed it for about 45 minutes as it trotted along the highway, likely to monitor the traffic hazard.

A woman called ABC-7 and claimed it is her family’s pet, Toby.

Dolores Castillo, who lives in the Ascarate Lake area said her dog has been missing since June 4 after it was taken to a friend’s home.

She said Toby is smart and doesn’t understand why he would have run away.

Castillo said she got a call about Toby when someone saw the video of the dog during a newscast on ABC-7.

“I’m not giving up.There has been animals that have come home five, ten years later and found their way home. There is no dog that can ever replace Toby,” said Castilo as she became emotional.
