to the u.s. than an external attack by al-qaida. the fbi director also worries that the shooting in chattanooga could happen anywhere else in the united states, and that the number of such attacks, clouds. as for temps, they’re again in the 60s and 70s. the chance of rain will not develop until late day and into the evening. then chances again are best over higher elevations, down to lower elevations through the evening. details on the rest of your week are coming up! several residents are without a place to sleep this morning after part of an apartment complex caught fire. it happened around 2 this morning on the 79-hundred block of viscount, at the la estancia apartments in east el paso. abc-7’s denise olivas is live …with our round the clock news coverage. firefighters just cleared out the scene about 30 minutes ago behind me, but as you can imagine there were some moments of panic for residents here. fire officials have confirmed the cause of the fire was electrical and it stared in an empty apartment not being rented out. our round the clock crew was here shortly after the fire happened. four apartment units were damaged and residents had to be displaced. no injuries were reported. fire department spokesman carlos briano says neighbors smelled smoke and called 911: “…has a smoke detector” fire investigators are ruling this an accident. this isn’t the first fire at this complex. there have been 2 other fires since 2012. one in november of 2012 and another in august of 2013. the director of the f-b-i says the number one threat to the homeland is now coming from the islamic state. he says the terrorist group’s new tactics have made it an even more dangerous enemy than al qaeda. abc’s bazi kani has more on this story developing now. a new warning has released a video showing what is said are air strikes on wednesday targeting islamic state group hideouts and vehicles in anbar province. the video also showed the iraqi defence minister inspecting an air base and frontline near ramadi, west of baghdad. a wanted terrorist believed to be plotting attacks on the u-s and other western countries is now dead. the pentagon confirmed the news. they say the wanted terrorist was killed in syria in a targeted strike on july 8th. a pentagon official says his death will disrupt al-qaeda operations against the u-s and other western targets. a pentagon official says he was among the “few trusted al qaeda leaders that received advanced notice of the september 11th attacks in 2001.” following the shootings at a recruiting facility in chattanooga, tennessee — texas and new mexico are taking extra precautions. this week, texas governor greg abbott authorized guardsmen to carry weapons at military facilities statewide. now new mexico governor susana martinez wants a review of all security policies at national guard recruiting sites and armories. las cruces has one recruitment station and three readiness centers. mother emanuel a- m-e church is still healing emotionally after nine people were killed at the church during a bible study five weeks ago. wednesday night marked five weeks since the shooting… “”there’s a number of people w cannot return because we’re standing where it all took place.” cu of a bible in a pew. ws of chairs. cu on flowers. while the church continues to heal emotionally, the physical scars of that night remain and that is only part of the work it needs done. the church has received more than 2 million dollars for improvements alone. . continuing our complete coverage of the tuberculosis cases and testing going on around the borderland there’s another case of active tubercolosis at frank macias elementary. that’s out in horizon city. the first active case was reported last month. el paso health officials still won’t say if the second person with active t-b is a student or staff member. … only saying he or she was part of the first group tested. out of the 159 students and 96 staff
