Chihuahuas Win 7th Straight

The El Paso Chihuahuas won 4-3 in Salt Lake Monday to complete a series sweep over the Bees. It was El Paso’s first sweep since taking four games from Sacramento April 21-24. The Chihuahuas finished their season-high 12-game road trip 9-3.

Will Middlebrooks hit a solo home run in the first inning, his second homer since being optioned from San Diego. Middlebrooks had first inning RBIs in all four games of the series. Alex Dickerson went 4-for-5 with a home run, falling a triple shy of the first Chihuahuas’ cycle. Rymer Liriano also homered Monday, joining Middlebrooks and Tim Federowicz as Chihuahuas who went deep twice in the Salt Lake series.

Chris Smith allowed three runs in seven innings Monday, the seventh straight game El Paso’s starter surrendered three runs or less. El Paso has won seven consecutive games, setting a new Chihuahuas’ team record.
