UTEP to Unveil Hockey Team in October

are usually what come to mind. but starting this fall the miners will be taking to the ice! abc 7’s luke lyddon has details on the upcoming hockey club. the sierra providence events center is home to the junior hockey team–el paso rhinos. nats: “players checking.” but starting in the fall there will be a new club added to the list. ” lot of players are probably just like me. they just want a chance to play hockey when they go to school.” standup: “when it comes to the hocke off-season there is actually no ice in this rink, but in the coming months that is all going to change. not only is this rink home to the ep rhinos, but starting in october its going to be home to the miner hockey club.” the miners hockey club will compete in the american collegiate hockey conference in division ii. they will play against rival nmsu, texas tech, texas a&m and other schools in their division. a rare chance to be able to represent their school colors on the ice. “if it wasnt for this i dont see any other opportunity for me to play hockey. so this is just an amazing opportunity and i am really grateful for it.” rhinos game operator and recruiter tom herman is also happy the sport is slowly growing throughout the borderland. herman said quote its exciting to see the growth of hockey in el paso. the ability to grow within our youth program, play junior hockey with the rhinos and then progress to the miners hockey club is great to see.” the ice hasn’t been laid down just yet–but its a glide in the right direction. “i feel like there is a huge love for the game here. i am just excited for it to grow.” luke lyddon, abc 7. the club will release more information in the coming months. if you want to learn more about the upcoming season we have a link on our website at kvia.com under the sports tab. the cowboys open up
