Bobby Lesley, coach of Eastwood basketball’s ’76 state championship team, has died

Bobby Lesley, who coached Eastwood High School to the 1976 state basketball championship, has died, Eastwood coach Gary Pippen confirmed to ABC-7.

Eastwood defeated Tyler 74-62 in 1976 state 4A championship game and finished the season with a 31-3 record. Eastwood is the last El Paso boys basketball team to win a state championship.

Lesley won 623 games and had 197 losses during his 27-year career at Eastwood.

Lesley was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

He played for Texas Western College and Don Haskins in the early 1960s.
