High School FB: Two A Days – Canutillo

canutillo… it was a magical run that captured the hearts of the entire city… fans: “go canutillo!” fans: “go eagles fans: “your friends, family and the city of el paso are cheering you on. go eagles!” canutillo’s win over everman clinched the regional crown and the eagles became the first 11 man team from el paso to reach the state semi finals… even after the loss to everman… the eagles were showered with praise… collecting team awards while coach scott brooks picked up several coach of the year awards… but that was last season… brooks: “i don’t know if we understand what they’re going up against. we do as coaches, but i’m not sure the kids do.” : “as of right now it doesn’t matter who’s back, who graduated and who didn’t. the reality is, the target is now on canutillo’s back.” canutillo lost all but 4 of its starters and the team will look drastically different than it did a season ago… moultrie: “we’re coming in just like it was last year. we’re trying to get back and do the same thing. what we lack in talent, we’re trying to make up for in heart.” gutierrez: “losin players doesn’t matter because we’ve been a team since freshmen year. we still have the bond.” brooks: “to d what we did last year, to do it year in and year out is going to be tough but i think we’ve got a chance of definitely going back to the playoffs and we’ve got a shot at winning district, that’s one of our goals. when you get to the playoffs anything can happen.” the canutillo eagles will build on the foundation of excellence… they still have a lot of players who saw the field last year… they’re still not the biggest, strongest or fastest team… but… they are fearless.. moultrie: “it feels good to b the rabbit. everyone’s trying to chase us.” canutillo opens its season against franklin on friday night… that’s our game of the week… we’ll have full highlights on the season premiere of the borderland blitz… you can find all of our two a days stories on our website: kvia dot com… the san diego padres … the chihuahuas parent team… is coming to el paso
