Chihuahuas Lose to OKC, 9-7
The Oklahoma City Dodgers won their first game at Southwest University ParkThursday, defeating the El Paso Chihuahuas 9-7. Hunter Renfroe went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in the loss. Renfroe now has four homers and 11 RBIs in his first nine Triple-A games.
The game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth when pitcher Jason Lane hit a two-run home run over the left field foul pole. An ensuing argument led to the ejection of Oklahoma City manager Damon Berryhill. Dodgers left fielder Jose Tabata and Chihuahuas third baseman Will Middlebrooks were also thrown out of the game, with all three ejections coming on separate plays. Lane went 2-for-2 at the plate, the second straight start that he’s produced two hits.
Oklahoma City scored six runs in a 10-batter top of the fifth and held on despite a three-run comeback attempt by the Chihuahuas in the bottom of the seventh. The Chihuahuas are now in second place, 3.5 games behind first place Las Vegas with 12 games to go in the season.
