Gas prices low over Labor Day weekend

According to AAA, gas hasn’t been this cheap since 2004. Thenational average is now $2.40 per gallon. Many El Pasoans took advantage of the low prices this Labor Day weekend.

Some El Pasoans at a Socorro gas station told ABC-7 they’ve never seen prices this low.
Gas at the Alon station on Moon and Alameda Roads was only $2.19 per gallon.the

According to AAA, the reason for the low prices is because there’s been a larger supply of oil and a lower demand. As ABC-7 previously reported, income, inventory and competition in certain locations can also determine prices.

Some people filling up at the pump in Socorro told ABC-7 they specifically stopped to buy gas, because they couldn’t pass up a good deal.

“I’m not familiar with this area but we were passing through and we saw how low the prices were so we go ahead and take advantage of it,” Al Sanchez said.

“i told some of my friends that i work with up there in north east that the price of gas down here is 2.20 cause up there its still at like $2.50 or $2.60,” Mano Cereceros said.

Average prices are still above $3 in four states.
