had i guess received packages, quite a few packages within a short amount of time and that they were actually doing a lot of work out in the garage… the fbi is now treating the investigation of sayed farook and his pakistani-born wife tashfeen malik as a potential case of terrorism, though without saying that was the intent. ross nl pkg sot david bowdich sot: it would be irresponsible of me to call this terrorism. the fbi defines terrorism very specifically. undisputed is the tragedy facing the families of those killed– their names all confirmed by the medical examiner. ryan reyes lost his partner, daniel kaufman. sot reyes the world will suffer from having one less person like him. michael wetzel is survived by a family reeling with the loss of a father, husband and breadwinner, says a spokesperson. sot name: celia behar/wetzel family spokesperson in: they are very overwhelmed. there are 6 kids who have lost father lost all financial support and the kids are just finding out jennifer thalasinos now clings to her last embrace with husband nicholas. sot jennifer thalasinos: ” i actually got an extra hug and a kiss before he left, so i am just holding on to that. back here in texas— no one was seriously hurt in an explosion and fire at a natural gas processing plant in west texas thursday morning. buses evacuated about 330 people from the plant, about four miles south of the new mexico border, to a performing arts center in carlsbad, new mexico. more than 200 of the people are employees or contractors for the anadarko petroleum corporation plant. according to a spokeswoman for anadarko, the fire was still burning into the night, but had been contained to one part of the plant. there’s no word on a cause of the blast and fire yet. authorities in deming are investigating a deadly officer- involved shooting. from our new mexico mobile newsroom— it happened wednesday afternoon at a home on country club drive. new mexico state police say they were called to assist after a deming police officer shot a man who had reportedly shot his girlfriend. they say when the officer arrived — the girlfriend was lying outside the home with a gunshot wound. the suspect 36- year-old florencio lucero reportedly threatened the officer and refused commands to put down his gun. that’s when authorities say the officer fired once — hitting lucero. lucero was taken to the hospital where he later died. the girlfriend also died from her injuries. the officer has been placed on administrative leave. also in new mexico– dona ana county sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic issue yesterday on cherry hill lane off of sunlit valley in the santa teresa country club. that’s west of el paso. authorities say this woman 35 year old kendra sha-han allegedly held a couple hostage. this is only video you’ll see on abc7 officials said the incident began at around 4:30 in the morning when.35- year-old kendra shahan allegedly entered a couples home and threatened them with a knife. they say shahan held them against their will in their home. the couple was able to get out several hours later and thats when they called police. when the swat team got to the scene they tried to negotiate with shahan. they were unsucessful and later found out shahan was no longer in the home. officials said this is not the first time shan has had a run in with the law. las cruces police say this man punched and choked his girlfriend during an argument. 25-year- old dulantis combs is charged with aggravated battery against a household member police say the woman drove to a nearby elementary school where officials called 9-1-1. the school was briefly placed on lock down because combs was said to be armed with a knife had possibly followed the woman. he was eventually located and booked into the dona ana county detention center without bond. joel garcia will not be back in jail as he awaits his trial. a judge denied the motion to increase his bond yesterday. the 25-year-old former boxer is charged with three counts of intoxicated manslaughter after allegedly driving drunk and killing brothers joshua and isaiah deal and shannon del rio last christmas eve. garcia was released from jail this november 12th on a $160,000 bond. the prosecution, led by denise butterworth argued garcia should not be out on bond as he remains a threat to this community. judge gonzalo garcia disagreed. he said a $160,000 bond is actually high– and joel’s parents took out an $86,000 lien on their home to pay it. coming up later we’ll hear the conditions of joel garcia’s release and why the judge says he isn’t a “flight risk. a man hit by a truck in the segundo barrio has died. police say 85-year- old everardo gutierrez-romo was not in a crosswalk when he was hit. it happened just after 4 o’clock monday afternoon on the 500 block of kansas. gutierrez-romo was taken to university medical center with serious injuries — he died yesterday. there are no charges pending against the driver who hit him. that huge mess on mesa street, caused by monday’s water main break, continues to cause headaches for drivers. we wanted to know who is to blame and who is going to pay for the expensive fix? el paso water utilities told us a company out of vancouver, washington, called advance boring specialists is to blame for the broken water pipe. work to repair the pipe is creating a traffic nightmare at mesa and i-10. the utility told us they marked the area for pipes, something they call spotting, before a-b-s started digging. crews with the company allegedly failed to “pot-hole,” or dig down to determine the depth of the water pipe. that resulted in hitting and breaking the massive pipe. a v-p with the utility says the company will likely be liable for paying for all the repairs to mesa street: alan shubert: “we’re looking at 10’s of thousands of dollars? oh i would say certainly that … hundreds of thousands? we’ll see … could be that much … it could be i doubt it would be, we’re not talking about a million dollars, but would certainly be more than 10’s of thousands.” abc-7’s spoke with the c-e-o of advanced boring specialists out of washington. he
