New orders to open all military jobs to women may affect combat readiness

Defense Secretary Ash Carter gave orders Thursday to open all military jobs to women who can meet qualification standards.

Women serving in the military can have the opportunity to compete for spots on high-risk special operationS like Delta Force and the Navy Seals

The United States Marine Corps recently detailed a nine month study, concluding that women in combat will negatively impact their efficiency.

The test included 400 Marines, 100 of whom were women, to compare how men and women do in combat situations.

The tests found that all male squads performed measurably better on 93 of the 134 tasks than units with women.

Some of those tests included speed, health and deadliness.

All male-squads moved faster in tactical movements that gender-integrated squads. Women had a higher injury rate than men, and the top quarter of women overlapped with the bottom quarter of men in physical fitness.

Evan Folan asked local service members on their thoughts and reactions to the recently made orders and how it may impact their jobs.
