VRA upset with Brass Monkey
el paso bars and restaurants. that’s what several motorcycle clubs say they’re dealing with tonight. one of them, a group of veterans… who say they were kicked out of a bar because of what they were wearing. abc – 7 reporter evan folan spoke with the president of the club… and the bar’s general manager. evan is live with what he found out. rick/estella the owner of the brass monkey says it was all a misunderstanding. the bikers say it was insulting and are encouraging other veterans to take a stand against the bar riding bike in sot: “the el paso veterans riders association is a group of veterans and active duty soldiers that support the el paso community not just veterans but the entire community and yeah we ride motorcycles” the president of the v- r-a tells me members of his club were asked to leave the brass monkey in west el paso … just because their vests have patriotic patches on them. sot:”on our vest we always have the american flag because we defend our country” and on the back… sot:”its the veterans and riders association – you can see the pride with the american flag and the american eagle and el paso..” bras monkey apologized to the club on facebook. i reached out to the general manager of brass monkey who said it manager of brass monkey who said it was all a misunderstanding. felipe ybarra said he wasn’t able to speak with us on camera today… but he sent me this email, saying: “w welcome our veterans. our issue is with bike groups and the wearing of colors. through our experience we’ve decided to not allow bikers in while wearing their colors.” ybarra says: “there have been numerous bad incidences in establishments which we would like to stay away from to insure the safety of our patrons and employees. a few bad apples made a bad situation for all.” but the bar manager’s apology on facebook and through abc-seven is not doing much to get the v-r-a back into the brass monkey. sot: “we asked ou fellow present and future veterans to boycott and to no longer give them service” sot: “we are not so of anarchy out here, we don’t go around shooting up the neighborhood – the biker community out here does a lot” the brass monkeys general manager says he has reached out to the president of the club to better explain the misunderstanding and says he hopes to quickly resolve the issue with both the club and veterans in el paso. we hope you like the warm weather we’ve been seeing… because it may
