Blitz Play of the Year: Eastlake’s Adrian Chavez
eastlake went the farthest of all the el paso teams this season … the falcons got to the regional semi finals… it was a great season highlighted by a great play… the play… the one the fans call the best of the season … it is time to hand out the very last punch and pie of the season… adrian chavez was getting a lot of love during eastlake’s week 9 game vs del valle… and he delivered one of the most spectacular runs of the year when he went away… and then bam! he’s back and gone! calderon: “coach rod was calling the next play already. we thought he he was down so tried to get the next play ready and then all of a sudden he popped out and… there he goes” that run not only earne him the play of the week… but thanks to his teammates and the students and the community of eastlake … adrian chavez’s run was voted the best play of the season… and for that… he gets punch and a lemon supreme pie courtesy of the good people at the sunland park village inn… chavez: “it’s prett special. ever since i got the first punch and pie, i’ve been dreaming about getting another one.” wel of course. he says he’s going to share, and he is giving his teammates some punch… even if they’re spilling it! but then adrian puts his lips on the punch when he’s supposed to be sharing… and for that… he gets another pie… in the face! that’s super fly punch and pie! chavez: i can’t eat this one. no you cannot… but it’s all in good fun because adrian chavez .. you may have the final batch of punch and pie for the borderland blitz play of the year! on cam chavez is only a junior so it’s going to be another long year for opposing defenses… the falcons have a lot of players coming back… don’t be surprised if they go even farther next year… josh hernandez is a
