ABC-7 12 Days of Christmas Canned Food Drive

The donations have been piling into the ABC-7 studios and Crawford Buick-GMC.
GEC Services decided to take part in the ABC-7 12 days of Christmas canned food drive.

The call center held their own friendly competition and collected items like canned meat, soups and pasta. The El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank truck picked up three truck loads of canned goods.

Christmas is next week. This is a great time to think about helping people who who might not have enough to eat by donating canned goods.

ABC-7 has teamed up with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank and Crawford Buick GMC. The goal is to provide a healthy meal to a family in need this holiday season.
According the Meal Gap a research study taken in 2014, one in six El Pasoans face a problem of food insecurity, meaning they are not sure where their next meal will come from.

The study found that one in three children face the same problem. An additional survey, the 2014 Hunger in America research study, found 99,000 people depend on the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank. Give generously this holiday season donate canned goods.

Here’s a list of items needed:
• Canned meat (ham, tuna, meat spread)
• Peanut butter
• Chunky soups and beef stew
• Macaroni and cheese
• Pastas
• Spaghetti sauce
• Dry cereal and oatmeal
• Rice and beans
• Canned vegetables and fruits
• 100 percent fruit juice (cans or plastic bottles)
