using his gun. the f-b-i then raided marquez’s home soon after farook and his wife, tashfeen malik, opened fire killing 14 people at the inland regional center… investigators say the two friends initially planned attacking a southern california community college. then… wanted to target drivers stuck in rush-hour traffic on a california freeway by using pipe bombs and then shooting drivers. plots dating back to 2011 — that never happened. sot — brad garrett, former fbi special agent & abc news consultant provided them a lot of details about the weapons… about possibly other attacks planned… about conversations particularly with farook.” week before the attack friends say marquez dropped hints of an impending attack. nick rodriguez: he would just talk about how there’s so many sleeper cells… something big would happen.” nats – president obama will make a trip to san bernardino today to meet with the victims and their families. sot — president obama over greater threats than this.” sot karen spigner – san bernardino: “i do appreciate hi coming and talking to the families, and this is going to go a long way towards healing.” tag: accordin to the federal complaint, farook persuaded marquez to convert to islam and then radicalized him. marquez is also facing weapons charges and immigration fraud — for an alleged sham marriage with a member of farook’s extended family. stephanie ramos abc news washington happening today … republican presidential candidate, jeb bush will be in the sun city. he’s going to be at the el paso club for a breakfast fundraiser. it’s a private event that is closed to the media. guests at the event include el pasoans such as rick francis– gayle and woody hunt– josh hunt and dee margo. we now know who will be taking over city manager tommy gonzalez’s position while he is on vacation next week. gonzalez has chosen economic development managing director cary westin as his temporary replacement. gonzalez also chose quality of life managing director bryan crowe to step in for one day while westin is gone next week. city reps say they’ll probably still have to approve or deny the appointment monday. remember council asked him to appoint someone in his place after it ordered an investigation into gonzalez’s actions. another question we’re asking: will city rep. larry romero step down from the financial oversight and audit committee—- and as alternate mayor pro tem – as the council asked him to? gonzalez didn’t return our phone calls but texted our maria garcia – saying he would have an answer after the holidays. efforts to disincorporate the city of sunland park — appear to have failed. the albuquerque journal reports there were not enough signatures to trigger an election. proponent craig carpenter told the journal they fell short 13 signatures. did dona ana county commissioners know of a pending investigation against the county jail and its administrator before he was arrested? last week, sheriff’s deputies arrested chris barela on allegations he misused inmate welfare funds. prior to his arrest, barela dismissed the investigation as cronyism: sheriff ki vigil says commissioners knew it was coming. abc-7’s new mexico mobile newsroom has obtained a copy of a confidential memo asking comissioners not to say anything. the memo is dated novemeber 23, about two weeks before sheriff vigil gave the big announcement to the public at the commissioners meeting. ki vigil: “the county commissioners were aware last week that this was coming apparently t was not a plan set in place.” mark d’antonio: ” didn’t discuss the details of the case for obvious reasons but i did tell them to prepare for the eventuality for a disruption in the detention center.” barela faces charges of fraud and embezzlement for allegedly mis- using inmates’ welfare money. a group of activists and students are trying to raise attention for striking workers in ciudad jurez. this was over at caf mayapan in central el paso. the workers in juarez make about $4 dollars a day and were asking for a raise of 6 pesos. that’s about 35-cents more a day. when they were turned down, the workers tried to form a union. that’s when they were allegedly fired. these activists say the workers in juarez are demanding better working conditions … the right to unionize … and end to sexual harassment allegedly impacting women in the workplace. a mother convicted of the death of her baby back in august has been granted a new trial court documents show — 21 year lindsey hradek will be tried again for the death of her 2- month-old baby boy. police say hradek’s son was found dead strapped to a carseat-upside down- covered with pillows. she and the father of the baby were allegedly high on cocaine the night of the boys death. the horizon city police department, says a helmet a motorcyclists was wearing, probably saved his life in a crash involving a truck. it happened yesterday evening just before 6 p.m., at the intersection of mystic desert drive and flowering cactus street in horizon. the rider was taken to del sol medical center and is said to be in stable condition with serious injuries. his name has not been released at this time. the crash remains under investigation. no word if the driver of the truck will face charges. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… stars wars “the forece awakens” is already getting rave reviews– and it’s only been out a few hours. what the sun city has to say about one of the biggest films ever. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with more… denise?
