Police release ID of man killed in motorcycle collision Monday

Update: El Paso Police have released the name of the man that was killed after a motorcycle crash Monday night.

It happened on the 1800 block of Zaragoza in far east El Paso.

He is identified as 23-year-old Eder Rene Romero.

Police say the driver of the car that hit him — 52-year-old Patricia Acosta — allegedly failed to yield the right of way.

At this time, police say Acosta is not facing any charges.

Original Story: At least one person is dead after a crash in Far East El Paso late Monday night. The crash happened around 10 p.m. on the 1800 block of Zaragoza, in front of the Chick-fil-a restaurant.

The crash involved a motorcycle and a sedan. Emergency dispatchers say the motorcyclist was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with serious injuries.

At this point it’s not clear if the motorcyclist is the victim who died. Special Traffic Investigators were called out to the scene after midnight. Police have not said how the crash happened, or if speed or alcohol were factors.

The crash shut down the intersection of Zaragoza and Crested Quail. As of 4:30 a.m., police confirmed the intersection was still shut down to traffic.
