Police investigate suspicious package at eastside Walmart

El Paso Police closed off a Walmart on the eastside to investigate a suspicious package Thursday morning.

The package was reported around 2 a.m. at 7101 Gateway West. That Walmart is located near Cielo Vista Mall.

Employees and customers were not allowed to enter the store for several hours.

At 6:42 a.m. the police department said on their Twitter page that the suspicious package was non-hazardous.

According to police on the scene, an old propane tank was left in an aisle and was cause for concern by some employees.

Employees and customers were allowed to reenter the store just after 7 a.m.
