Peter Dillon Lucero Trial: Day 1

a man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman living in a nursing home. investigators say 25-year-old peter dillon lucero was visiting a relative at the good samaritan society center … when he allegedly entered the room of the 50-year-old woman and raped her. dona ana county deputies say the victim relied on a wheelchair to get around. according to a statement of facts obtained by abc-7’s our new mexico mobile newsroom — lucero told detectives the victim asked him if she could perform a sex act on him. lucero allegedly said he agreed, then had sex with her. but that’s not what the victim told nurses. a nurse told detectives she found the woman on the floor, partially naked. the woman told the nurse she fell down. when detectives interviewed the victim … she would only tell them lucero touched himself in front of her. she was hesitant when asked if lucero raped her … and told detectives she could not remember what happened. peter dillon lucero is officially charged with false imprisonment and 2nd degree criminal sexual penetration. during opening arguments today, a health care administrator who works at good samaritan said lucero was not a complete stranger at the facility. the witness said lucero visited his grandfather regularly and residents usually asked him to wheel them around, although it was typically not allowed. we have new video of the trial just into our newsroom from our new mexico mobile newsroom… lucero, seen here wearing a black suit, purple tie and dark glasses, remained calm. witnesses said there were 15 to 20 staff members making the rounds the day of the alleged rape. surveillance video allegedly shows lucero taking the alleged victim to her room, then leaving her room 30 minutes later. another witness jurors heard from today is amelia rivera, a dietitian who told lucero how to get around the facility the day of the alleged rape. she explained why he worried her: amelia rivera: “he asked my nam and i told him my name. and he said, ‘i’m dillon.’ and i said, ‘nice to meet you.’ and then he said, ‘are you married?’ and i said, ‘yes i am and i have two kids.’ and it was during that time that he ended up telling me, ‘well, you have a nice a.'” in court today, we learned staff at good samaritan checked on residents every hour and the resident’s beds also have a button so they can reach out to staff in the case of an emergency. our new mexico mobile newsroom reports the victim is scheduled to take the stand tomorrow. he’s facing in between five and 20 years in prison … and will have
