St Pius X special needs group sending message to pope

a message to the pope and the world has over 4-thousand views and counting. so who’s behind the video? the st. pius special needs group. abc-7’s jerry najera is live with their story … rick estela i met some of the members of the group earlier and what a treat it was to get to know them. there message is simple-give us opportunity. “the video it says welcome to our world. and when you look at welcome to our world we want the community to see what there really going through” richard couder is director of the st. pius special needs group. he tells me the group has been around 12 years. there’s about 65 members ranging from ages 8 to 74. all have special needs from physical disabilities to down syndrome and autism “we noticed our children don’t have any activities to do after highschool or during school” couder wanted to create a program that would give them a reason to get up in the morning and be productive “sundays they do basketball, mondays they are doing gymnastics, tuesday there doing folklorico wednesdays they are doing golf” the list goes on “i basketball and gymnastics” member gary harrelson tells me he likes folklorico the most. parents like betty mata say the group has been like a family to them. “there free of being judged mat says” she tells me her son victor who has autism has opened up and learned to be more social. victor was also in the video that shows the group working on the message for the pope “the colored it put their name on the piece of paper and put it on a ballon and released the ballon hoping it goes to the heavens” couder tells me they understand the pope might not see the messages but maybe the video could cross his path. “we know that if pope francis hears about it and just prays and asks the good lord to help us wonderfull things are going to happen” they were getting ready for the valentines dance they’ll be having right behind me on valentines day. couder also says he welcomes any parents with special needs children to contact him and we’ll have that information following this story on kvia.com following this story on kvia.com following this story on kvia.com we’ll have that information following this story on kvia.com donald trump had some comments about the pope’s visit to the
