Victims of violent crimes remembered

people around the country are getting together, remembering those they have lost to violent crimes. abc-7′ julio-cesar chavez was at a memorial service today and has more he’s live from our newsroom el paso county district attorney’s office organized a memorial event today in east el paso. the annual crime victims memorial ceremony brings together those affected by violent crime to pay tribute to the victims name, ding 1,554 names were read out loud this morning at yucca park in east el paso. a single bell chime following every name read. each person was killed by violent crime. ding the crime victims wall lists the names of the hundreds killed. including raul robles, who was allegedly murdered by his girlfriend two years ago. his family still mourning his loss– very kind person, an animal lover, adopted any animal you would see on the street. ding they say it hasn’t been easy “it’s a bumpy road, difficult but as a family we’ve been able to pull together and we’ve been dealing with it” and they haven’t had closure yet “we’re still in court, so, that doesn’t make it no easier” the woman says it’s events like this that let them know they’re not alone “it’s a good support system it’s something really nice that they do to remember our lost ones that we’ve lost, and we really enjoy coming out here every year” ding “it makes us feel good to kno he’s not forgotten, remembered” ding you never know how long you have with somebody, life is short. raul robles would have turned 33 this month. evan, josie, back to you.
