5 soldiers from Ft. Bliss arrested for allegedly burglarizing cars

Five men from Fort Bliss were arrested early Thursday after being accused of breaking into cars in far east El Paso, said El Paso Police.

They are Kion Newsome, 21, Donovan Snell, 18, James Leach, 18, Mel-jamesjuar Luxurious Kinmon, 19, and Nicholas Mims, 19.

A spokesperson from Ft. Bliss Public Affairs Office confirmed that all five are soldiers.

Police said just after midnight Thursday, an off-duty border patrol agent witnessed the five men pulling on car doors in the neighborhood on the 12000 block of Tierra Norte.

Officers responded and detained the five men at Joe Battle and Pebble Hills where the five had been followed by the off-duty agent.

During the investigation officers discovered that cars at two different locations had been burglarized, said police. The five were charged with two counts of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Burglary of Vehicle and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility each under $10,000 bonds.

Additional charges are pending.
