Chihuahuas to host Reno tonight in home opener
EL PASO, Texas – The Chihuahuas will host the Reno Aces tonight at 7:05 p.m. in the team’s official home opener.
Tonight’s game comes on the heels of an eight-game road trip for the Dogs that resulted in just one win to go along with five losses and two rainouts.
Daniel McCutchen is expected to get the start tonight for the Chihuahuas against the Aces.
The two teams have already met this year, with the Aces taking two of three games from the Dogs, outscoring them 20-9 in the process.
The Chihuahuas were not able to get a win on their recent road trip to Tacoma, which featured plenty of rain but little offense on the part of El Paso.
The Chihuahuas have already hosted one game at Southwest University Park this year – an exhibition game vs. the San Diego Padres on March 31. The Padres came away with a 13-9 victory, thanks in part to three home runs in the ninth inning.
El Paso is currently batting .213 as a team – third worst in the Pacific Coast League. The Chihuahuas also have the second-worst on-base percentage in the PCL at .269 entering tonight’s matchup with Reno. They also rank at the very bottom in total hits, although most teams have played one or two more games.
