ABC-7 Listens 04.16.16

entertainment. rick cabrera wants to clear up any confusion in abc-7 listens. we want to make sure changes in the weather never catch you off guard. but j-r worries our warnings are creating fear. “your tv station now is broadcasting a ‘severe weather’ notice as of today april 8, 2016 for ‘some rain.’ “i, as well as some others, think this is ‘not normal.’ “unless it is an abnormal weather effect, please cease ‘the severe weather alert or weather alert.’ “it just makes folk nervous when it is not necessary. please focus on the real bad weather issues.” j-r … our goal is to warn not worry. but that requires our viewers to listen closely. stormtrack nichole gomez repeatedly said we weren’t going to see a lot of rain … but with april being the driest month and us not having rain since february … we wanted our viewers to be in the know. you see … anytime there is a major change from the norm … as was the case that day … we will issue an abc-7 stormtrack first alert. so, there will be times our first alert is like an alarm … telling you to watch out for severe weather … but it can also be a warning … that a sudden change is headed your way. rick
